City Green to Host Annual Veggie Plant Sale

Clifton, NJ – City Green, a nonprofit urban farming and gardening organization, will host their annual Veggie Plant Sale from May 11th through May 13th at the City Green Farm Eco-Center to kick off the spring gardening season. Home and community gardeners can shop a vast selection of home-grown veggie plants, all organically cultivated by City Green’s farm team.

“This event is City Green’s favorite way to welcome our community back to the farm after a long winter and build excitement for the upcoming season!” commented City Green’s Market Manager, Alex Caroleo. “They’ll also get a sneak peak at what veggie varieties will be at our farm stands in June.”

The Veggie Plant Sale will be held at City Green’s Farm Eco-Center on Thursday, May 11th and Friday, May 12th from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, and Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Available plants include tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, summer squash, zucchini, cucumber, kale, collard greens, broccoli, basil, and parsley. City Green’s farmers will be on hand to answer questions and give advice on plant selection and care. After you’ve shopped, tour the grounds, visit the goats and chickens, and enjoy a stroll through the gardens.

“All of our vegetable plants are hand-seeded by our team with high-quality, organic seeds. We grow our seedlings in locally produced, certified organic potting soil that’s been enriched with premium compost, all without the use of fertilizers! The variety of vegetables we’ll have at the Plant Sale are all tried and tested by all of the farmers here at City Green and they are the same varieties we grow on our farm” said Henry Anderson, City Green’s Director of Agriculture.

SNAP/EBT, cash, and credit cards are accepted at the City Green Plant Sale. Shoppers paying with SNAP/EBT will receive a 50% off Good Food Bucks discount on vegetable and herb seedlings.
