Assistant Garden Educator 

City Green is hiring several part time Assistant Garden Educators for the 2024 programmatic season, March through November.   The Assistant Garden Educator positions are an opportunity to support a Lead Garden Educator in teaching garden-based lessons for preschool and elementary-aged children, while supporting upkeep of gardens in an urban setting.  Assistant Educators will support youth programs at City Green’s educational gardens in Clifton and Paterson, as well as off-site at partner school gardens across Northern NJ.  We are looking for enthusiastic, aspiring educators who have a love of the outdoors and working with youth. (Published 2/8/24) Read the full Assistant Graden Educator Job Description

  • Garden Education Assistants are paid $15.50 /hr

  • Several part-time positions are available ranging from 12 - 25 hours per week.  Garden Education Assistants can work spring, summer or fall seasons, however April - November commitment is preferred.

  • Start date is April 10th, 2024

  • Programs roughly take place between 8:30AM-6:00PM Monday through Saturday. Educators’ schedule will depend on their availability and the program schedule.  Garden Education Assistants should expect to work select Saturdays.

Farm Produce Distribution Coordinator 

The Farm Produce Distribution Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of  farm produce inventory management and distribution coordination from harvest and processing to market. The Farm Produce Distribution Coordinator reports directly to the Farm Manager and works in close collaboration with our Farm Market Director and harvest and market team. This is a hands-on role requiring an individual that is a true leader, can rally a team, maintain positive morale and a positive work environment, and ensure a smooth, efficiently run operation. This is a full-time seasonal position. Prior experience in farming and or the food industry is required. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized individual to help strengthen efficiency and production in City Green’s farm and food access department. (Published 2/08/24).   • Position is full-time, seasonal (May-Nov/Dec) ranging from 30-35 hours per week. Must be available on select weekends and evenings

  • Anticipated start date: May 1, 2024

  • $22.50/hourly

Lead Garden Educator

Lead Educators host programs at City Green’s educational gardens in Clifton and Paterson, as well as off-site at partner school gardens throughout the community with the support of interns and seasonal garden educator staff. We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible educators who have experience leading programming for young children and some experience growing gardens.   • This is a full-time or part-time, seasonal, in-person position. Ranging from 20-35 hours a week. 

  • Start date: March 5th, 2024. End date: November 22nd

  • This position is offered at $17-$19 an hour

Summer Youth Crew Leader 

City Green is seeking four Summer Youth Crew Leaders to support the 2024 summer implementation of the Growing Strong internship program. Summer Youth Crew Leaders are needed to supervise and serve as mentors to crews of up to four high school interns working at City Green’s farm or garden camp programs for children ages 6 - 10, or on the farm and market team. The Summer Youth Crew Leader of the Farm and Market Crew leads the interns on the City Green farm through responsibilities including harvesting, washing produce, and selling produce at markets. Summer Youth Crew Leader responsibilities will include: supervising their team of interns, acting as a lead educator at the camp programs and implementing the City Green curriculum, and  supporting the overall maintenance of City Green’s garden sites via planting, weeding, watering and harvesting the food produced in the garden.   • Compensation: $17 / hour

  • Crew Leaders must be available weekdays from June 17th to August 21st, 2024, which includes training. This position will include approximately 16 - 20 hours of work per week, between the hours of approximately 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
