Position Description:

City Green is hiring a full-time Lead Garden Educator (Youth, Senior, and Disability Programs) for the 2026 programmatic season, March through November. The Lead Garden Educator position is an opportunity to lead and teach hands-on,
garden-based programs for youth (K-12), older adults, and groups with disabilities, while also planting and maintaining small urban gardens. Lead Garden Educators host programs at City Green’s educational gardens in Clifton and Paterson, as well as off-site at partner organizations, senior centers and schools.

 

This position includes reviewing and implementing seasonal, garden-based activities, preparing for lessons/workshops, traveling off-site in a company vehicle, providing thoughtful program facilitation, event clean-up, garden maintenance and basic data input. We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible candidate who has some experience gardening and a passion for making garden experiences accessible for diverse populations: ages youth through older adults. Competence or fluency in Spanish is highly preferred, as well as some knowledge or experience in therapeutic horticulture.

Position Description:

The Lead Youth Garden Educator position is an opportunity to lead and teach hands-on, garden-based lessons for preschool and elementary-aged children, while planting and maintaining youth gardens in an urban setting. Lead Educators host programs at City Green’s educational gardens in Clifton and Paterson, as well as off-site at partner schools and organizations across Northern NJ with the support of interns and seasonal assistant educators. For the summer season, this includes providing mentorship & youth development programming for the “Growing Strong” high school intern program. We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible educators who have experience leading programming for children and some experience growing gardens.

Position Description:

City Green is hiring part time Assistant Garden Educators (Youth Programs) for the 2026 programmatic season, March through November. The Assistant Garden Educators support a Lead Garden Educator in teaching garden-based lessons for preschool and elementary-aged children, and plant/maintain youth gardens in an urban setting. Assistant Educators will support youth programs at City Green’s educational gardens in Clifton and Paterson, as well as off-site at partner school gardens across Northern NJ. We are looking for enthusiastic, aspiring educators who have a love of the outdoors and working with youth.

Position Description:

City Green’s South Branch farm in Mount Olive, NJ is looking for farm crew members for the 2026 season! We are a production based vegetable farm cultivating 4-6 acres using organic and regenerative practices. In addition to vegetable production, we are in the process of establishing native pollinator hedgerows as well as an alley cropping system where fruit and nut trees are cultivated alongside vegetable crops. This is a great opportunity for experienced candidates who enjoy on-farm work and want to expand their knowledge in all aspects of the organic production of 70+ varieties of vegetables, native plants, and fruit and nut trees. Farm crew members will work Monday-Friday and take part in all aspects of growing and harvesting a wide range of vegetables to support City Green’s mission to increase accessibility of fresh, affordable produce in underserved communities. Farming is physical, fast paced, and tough work, but we make it a point to have fun and meet each task with positive energy! 

 

At least one full season of farm experience is strongly preferred. Multiple positions are available.

Position Description:

Harvest and Market Assistants serve as seasonal staff for our farming, Veggie Mobile, and CSA operations. They support every aspect of getting fresh produce to people’s tables, from seeding to harvesting to packing to selling. The Harvest and Market Assistant will work with City Green’s farm team to maintain crop beds and fields as well as harvest, process, and pack vegetables in preparation for City Green’s Veggie Mobile and CSA programs. Harvest and Market Assistants will set up City Green’s farm stand and Veggie Mobile markets, complete customer transactions while providing excellent customer service and information about the fruits and vegetables for sale, and break down the farm stand at the end of each market. Additionally, Harvest and Market Assistants will record transactional data, account for market inventory, engage customers at the market, and more.

Position Description:

Growing Strong is a paid summer internship for high school students from Paterson and Clifton, NJ. Interns spend the summer working at City Green at our farm or children’s camp programs, while participating in food and environmental justice workshops. By working in an urban farming and market enterprise or educational garden/farm camp program, interns positively engage with their community; benefit from purposeful mentorship and peer collaboration; and foster a personal connection to food systems, healthy eating and the environment.

Position Description:

The Climate Action Collective is a scholarship-based, immersive leadership climate community for high school students interested in climate change and community activism. The Collective serves as a launchpad for dialogue, community action, leadership skills, and knowledge of the natural environment and history of New Jersey. Participants will explore connections between food, agriculture, and climate change, through reading, discussions, activities, and farm work.

City Green’s Urban Agriculture College Internship Program will provide participants with a wide variety of hands-on work, educational experiences and independently-led projects to support City Green’s mission of creating and supporting urban farms, community gardens, school gardens and green spaces while addressing public health concerns, nutrition inequality and environmental stewardship. 

 

The goal of the Urban Agriculture (UA) Internship is to provide a dynamic opportunity to aspiring people of varied educational fields who believe that the urban agriculture and community food systems can create environmental justice, food security, and enhance communal outdoor experiences for residents of Northern New Jersey. We are a mission-driven team and the UA Intern’s role and responsibilities will be integrated within our existing programmatic structure to implement engaging and educational programs and deepen our reach into the community.
