About the Role
The Full Season Garden Educator is a full-time opportunity working with preschool and school-age children in various educational gardening settings. The Garden Educator will support all aspects of our youth programming including school field trips, in school programs, and after school garden programs at any of the above locations. Educators are expected to travel to different program sites, follow our City Green curriculum, implement high quality garden education, prepare the outdoor space for teaching, and work as a team with other educators or assistants. Educators also support our partners in garden maintenance through planting, weeding, watering and mulching.
Employment Options and Salary:
Garden Educator (non-internship option)
▪ Full-time Garden Educators will work 40 hours a week from the weeks of April 4, 2022 to November 11, 2022
▪ Part-time Garden Educators will work up to 20 hours a week from the weeks of April 4, 2022 to November 11, 2022. Schedule can be flexible based on the applicant's ability.
▪ Garden Educators will be paid $14-15/hr depending upon experience and time commitment

Requirements & Qualifications
Job duties include:
Implement program curriculum at City Green garden sites as an outdoor educator
Maintain vegetable garden production at all sites under supervision of the Director of Community Horticulture
Perform daily program data collection o Follow organizational policies and standards for safety and liability
Qualifications:
Have experience working with children o Have high energy, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Be willing and able to effectively lead a group of active children in the garden
Be comfortable working outside in all weather and capable of lifting 40 pounds
Have interest and basic skills in vegetable and flower gardening
Be willing to drive to garden sites in urban areas using company vehicles
Be able to pass a background check
Have a valid driver’s license
To be fully vaccinated and boosted
Additional Responsibilities for all programs include:
Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with partners throughout programs
Maintenance of records and files for contacts and program materials
Support for printed materials (flyers, newsletters, reports, etc.)
Timely and professional communication with collaborating staff and outside program partners
Participate in “All Hands On Deck” activities, where all City Green staff cooperate on a large project, event, educational program or volunteer day
Support initiatives and programs throughout the organization as needed
Be prepared to represent City Green in a variety of situations with partners, guests, funders, government officials, other stakeholders, and community members
Adhere to City Green’s principles and policies
Adhering to City Green’s policies and practices around diversity, equity and inclusion
Be prepared to support interdepartmental events activities
Follow organizational policies and standards for safety and liability
