City Green Celebrates Women in Agriculture

Happy National Women in Agriculture Day! From growing fresh vegetables to managing mobile farm stands, advocating for policy change and leading farm volunteers, we are proud to be women led and women powered here at City Green.

We’re also proud to support efforts aimed at increasing access for women in agriculture across the garden state. New Jersey has a deep history of women in agriculture: over 6,700 women work on farms today. Yet women still face disparities in accessing land, loans, and resources. Last fall, the NJ legislature signed into law a bill that would support work to address these disparities and support women in owning and operating their own farms. Women interested in growing can now more easily access loan and assistance programs as well as gain access to the US Department of Agriculture’s minority farm register.
