About the Tree, Bulb, & Perennial Grants
The Dig In! Tree, Bulb and Perennial grant supplies daffodil bulbs, native trees and native, perennial plant packages to eligible schools, municipalities and community groups in Passaic County to promote habitat restoration and neighborhood beautification. Site preparation and planting is completed by the grantee and technical assistance, tools and educational support is available from City Green as requested. Grant quantities available vary based on type of applicant (see eligibility for details). Applicants can request 1 -2 grant (plant) types (Ex. Trees and daffodils OR daffodils and native perennials.)
Eligibility
Grants are available to municipalities, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups/organizations in Passaic County.

All Projects Must Have:

A minimum of 3 adults committed to the project
-
Be highly visible to the public and provide an identifiable positive impact to the neighborhood
-
Have workable soil on-site, minimum of 4 hours of sunlight, and access to water (for perennials and trees)

Have an effective site preparation, installment and maintenance plan appropriate for the plants requested

Commercial for-profit entities

Grant Timeline

Application Period: June 12th, 2024 - August 9th, 2024

Application Information

​There are separate applications for Municipal Applicants and Community Organizations & Schools.

Grant applications are due August 9th, 2024.

Plants will be procured by City Green and are picked up by grantee in October.

All native, perennial grantees must attend a mandatory in-person or virtual perennial care training.
Final Grant Report

All projects must include a final report that includes:
-
Before, during, and after photos of the project
-
A social media post or pressrelease about the project which tags City Green (citygreennj) and Passaic County Board of County Commissioners
-
A summary of how the plantings were installed
-
Applications are closed for the 2024 cycle.
Applicants can expect grant award notification in early September 2024.
