Community Gardens

Helping to grow over 650 pounds of fresh food each summer while establishing green space in the city, providing opportunities to interact with nature, and enabling community collaboration.

Youth Programming

Our City Green Learning Garden in conjunction with our growing number of satellite summer, after-school, and school garden programs, rounds out a comprehensive approach to inspiring young people to learn, engage in their community, take care of themselves and their neighborhoods, and understand, respect and care for their environment. We currently serve over 800 inner city youth from 6 - 17 years of age.

Environmental Clubs

Spreading awareness, education, & appreciation of the environment  through club activities.

Horticultural Therapy

Providing meaningful and purposeful activities while encouraging individual growth and cultivating positive connections with nature.

We are now in our fifth year of implementing our New Ground Community Garden program and our City Sprouts Youth Garden program, working to facilitate the creation of gardens for open space, growing food, environmental and nutrition education, neighborhood beautification and community livability.

Future Programming:

Curriculum Expansion
Our City Sprouts program will enable schools to provide a curriculum based in plant anatomy, nutrition or the environment with hands on materials to support them.  City Green produced curriculum materials will include teacher training opportunities, lessons connected to the NJ Core Curriculum Standards, and City Green staff support in development and implementation of new programs

Urban Agriculture
City Green intends to leverage vacant lots and community enthusiasm to build a sustainable food system with greater food production, while providing leadership opportunities and inspiring positive change in the communities we serve.

City Green Greenhouse
In an effort to become more self sustainable and to enhance existing educational opportunities we will be opening and maintaining a greenhouse.

Expansion
City Green has been proudly serving the Paterson area for the last 5 years and is in the process of extending our reach to some nearby cities. Look for us next in Jersey City ... and maybe one day soon in a city near you!
