New Projects:
New after school project at St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation – The after school kids will form a “garden club” to grow flowers, butterfly attracting plants and veggies! They will participate in great educational activities in the process.
New raised bed vegetable garden project - partnering with NJ Community Development Corporation at their newly built Birch Street Apartments for the formerly homeless and mentally ill. We think growing food and flowers will be a powerful experience for the new residents of the Birch St. Apartments!
New program at the YWCA and the Paterson Library – new this year City Green will be conducting a Literature in the Garden program! Stories and lessons from the garden, along with creative journaling work!
The Environmental Justice Club at School 7 is taking action! These motivated students are starting a School-Wide Recycling Program! They are partnering with the Paterson Recycling Department and science teacher Mrs. Arrington to educate their school, while creating less waste.
The Story Time Garden plan is in the works for this spring at the main branch of the Paterson Public Library – This will be a natural space with a story circle surrounded by sensory engaging plants with pleasant aromas, a variety of colors, soothing sounds and interesting textures!
